Hospital Plan

You have access to the Beech Street hospital network*. This program has more than 1,200 hospitals nationwide. In addition to offering you a quality network of hospitals, Beech Street will also help limit your out-of-pocket expenses.

Beech Street has negotiated reimbursement arrangements with the hospitals in its network that result in significant cost savings. When you visit an in-network hospital, these savings are passed on to you, helping to minimize your out-of-pocket costs!

Universal Health Card members also enjoy a hospital and physician mediation service offered through HealthCare Mediation. It provides members with experienced negotiation professionals with backgrounds in insurance and managed care to ensure the members have the highest level of experience working for them. Members will receive reductions on medical bills without having an adverse affect on their credit.

  • Members can receive savings from 20% to 40% on the medical bills.
  • No charge for the HealthCare Mediation service, if savings are not received.
  • Will work directly with collection companies.
  • Patient Advocates working on the members' behalf.
  • No minimum bill requirements.

This plan does not meet the minimum creditable coverage requirements under M.G.L. c. 111M and 956 CMR 5.00. The plan provides discounts at certain health care providers for medical services. The range of discounts will vary depending on the type of provider and service. The plan does not make payments directly to the providers of medical services. Plan members are obligated to pay for all health care services but will receive a discount from those health care providers who have contracted with the discount medical plan organization. You may access a list of participating health care providers at this website. Upon request the plan will make available a written list of participating health care providers. You have the right to cancel within the first 30 days after receipt of membership materials and receive a full refund, less a nominal processing fee (nominal fee for MD residents is $5).
